Britney Spears & Will.i.am Dished On ‘Britney Jean’ At An L.A. Listening Event

Britney Spears held a small Britney Jean listening event Thursday (November 21) in Los Angeles, where she and executive producer will.i.am opened up about the making of the album. Roughly 100 music writers and music biz luminaries gathered at the event, which was moderated by improbably famous TV host thingy Andy Cohen, as Spears played four new tracks including “Alien,” “It Should Be Easy” and “Tick Tick Boom” featuring T.I. She also played “Perfume,” and Will revealed the goal with that cut was “to treat her vocal as the main character of the song,” according to MTV.

Spears again stressed that this is a “personal” album, and said “a lot” of it was influenced by her breakup with Jason Trawick. “I want people to listen to it and be inspired to work out and have a good day,” she said. Will.i.am had nothing but accolades for Spears throughout the evening, saying her impressive work ethic is “the total opposite” of many artists he’s worked with in the past. (The secret to those fruitful studio sessions? Sushi and Skittles, according to Brit.)

Will added that Spears “brought her supreme best” to the album, and told fans, “Take the time and listen to this album. It’s a beautiful piece of work.”

Britney Jean drops December 3.
