U2 Return With “Ordinary Love” From ‘Mandela’ Soundtrack: Watch The Lyric Video

This fall sees dueling Nelson Mandela biopics in theaters, but Mandela: The Long Walk To Freedom (out on November 29) — not to be confused with the Jennifer Hudson-starring Winnie Mandela (already up on the silver screen) — is notable for having a brand new U2 composition on its soundtrack. As far as their pop-rock career goes, the Irish band haven’t released new material since 2009’s No Line On The Horizon. The good news: Mandela song “Ordinary Love” is immediately miles ahead of anything on that album.

In fact, the vibe of the track is vaguely reminiscent of that on the woefully under-appreciated, William Orbit-produced “Electrical Storm,” a then-new U2 single that was tacked onto their 2002 Best Of collection.

Watch the lyric video for “Ordinary Love” below.

Consider this a nice holdover until the release of Bono & Co’s next album, which is reportedly being produced by Danger Mouse and may or may not boast a Chris Martin feature.
