Eminem Spits As Max Headroom In “Rap God”: Watch

Eminem, current Billboard 200 king, shows and tells of how he raps like a robot in “Rap God.” He does this as he spells out a once-censored lyrical reference to the 1999 Columbine High School Massacre, sprints through a swift and homophobic diss directed at Soulja Boy and speeds through a reference to J.J. Fad‘s “Supersonic,” one that Rap Genius initially struggled to spell out. “So call me rapbot,” he actually suggests.

And he drives all of this home in his new “Rap God” video, particularly when he portrays the titular character from Max Headroom (above), the ’80s TV series that was supposed to portray the not-too-distant future. Televisions could not be shut off, ratings were an exact science and cameras were everywhere. Here, Max Headroom is the first-ever computer-generated TV personality, but while his looks was modeled after male hosts at the time, he himself would spaz and sigh deeply through bouts of sarcasm.

It’s as Eminem raps in the second verse: “Well, to be truthful, the blueprint’s simply rage and youthful exuberance / Everybody loves to root for a nuisance.” Watch his “Rap God” video up top, and then after the jump, check out late-night host David Letterman‘s interview with Max Headroom himself.
