The 2013 Soul Train Music Awards took place Sunday (December 1), and the ceremony was heavy on nostalgia — Keith Sweat and Dionne Warwick both received honors for their iconic careers, Warren G performed his classic “Regulate,” Vanilla Ice got stage time for some reason — but the new school had plenty of time in the spotlight. Kendrick Lamar took home Album of the Year, “Blurred Lines” won song of the year, Janelle Monae snagged Video of the Year and Miguel was named Best R&B/Soul Male Artist. The mix of old and new went into the performances as well: up top, watch Jennifer Hudson do a medley with Chaka Khan, T.I. and Evelyn “Champagne” King.

Check out performances from Wale, Tamar Braxton and more below.
