Nelson Mandela Remembered By Beyonce, Rihanna, Jennifer Lopez & More
Nelson Mandela passed away today (December 5) after a long battle with a severe chest infection. The much-loved humanitarian’s death sparked an immediate outpouring of grief, respect and admiration from celebrities touched by the great man’s journey and wisdom.
Beyonce, Fergie and John Legend posted photos taken with South Africa’s first black president on their social media accounts. “Thank you for all you have sacrificed to improve the lives of other human beings. Rest in peace,” wrote Mrs. Carter on Instagram. Other celebrities urged fans to show their respect by following Mandela’s example.
“Advising all my young ones that follow me to research a small piece of Nelson Mandela Life. That’s how you pay your respect,” tweeted Kendrick Lamar. Other artists like Ed Sheeran and Kelly Rowland posted quotes, while Jennifer Lopez kept it succinct: “It always seems impossible until it’s done. Rest in Peace Nelson Mandela.
