Drake & Jay Z Join Timbaland On Gritty “Know Bout Me”: See The Lyric Video

Timbaland never really went away, but thanks to his work on Justin Timberlake‘s The 20/2o Experience, as well as Jay Z‘s Magna Carta Holy Grail, there’s a renewed interest in the super-producer as he enters a new era of his career. With more eyes on him again, Tim’s prepping another solo album, Textbook Timbo (I guess judging by the title, that’s bad news for anyone who’s tired of his trademark skittering, beat-boxing sounds). Tim today (December 12) has dropped the lyric video for monster single “Know Bout Me.” Featuring Drake, Jay Z and James Fauntleroy, the beat consists of a “Tubular Bells”-like piano loop unspooling over a trap stomp.

Jay is relegated to an opening ad-lib, but Drizzy more than makes up for the absence with a few standout lines, including this couplet: “I been singing and rapping, I make a killing in both / If I had to choose a Jackson, man I’m feelin’ like Bo.” There’s still too much of Timbo’s chirping and scatting for our liking, but other than that, it’s pretty dope! Makes us think he saved his fresh material for this release and unloaded all the leftovers on 20/20 Part 2.
