Beyonce Performs “XO” For The First Time: Watch

Whatever Beyonce wants, she gets. During her Dec. 13 stop of her Mrs. Carter Show tour, she decided to perform “XO” for the first time live. The only condition: she wanted a call-and-response from the Chicago crowd. Not only did fans happily agree (“I got you, baby!” I got you, B!”), but as footage shows, they cheered her on as if at church (“YES, B! YES!”).

The longer she sang, and the longer they sang, on her cue and then with her, the wider that Beyonce’s grin spread across her face.

Billboard reports that “XO,” written by Ryan Tedder and The-Dream, will be the third single released to radio from the self-titled album she dropped that same day, without any notice. (The Pharrell-produced “Blow” and Jay Z-assisted “Drunk in Love” drops next week.) As King Bey herself points out, Beyonce had not even been out for 24 hours by the time she performed that night. Her Chicago crowd, however, acted otherwise.
