Pixie Lott Comes Back Extra Soulful With “Heart Cry”: Watch The Video

British songbird Pixie Lott made a big splash a few years back but all’s been quiet on the Lott front as of late — save a great cover of “Royals” that the siren debuted last month — but lo! She’s making a comeback and it all starts with her first promotional single “Heart Cry,” and she’s just unveiled the music video for the new track.

It’s a return to form for Lott, who took a critical hit with her last album, 2011’s underperforming Young Foolish Happy; the authentic throwback vibe of “Heart Cry” is properly soulful, evoking Adele and Duffy and that whole camp of retro-leaning divas. Big band instrumentation and a ’60s girl-group sound invigorate the song nicely. The video, too, is lovely, showcasing a glammed-up Lott wandering the streets of Paris looking like a true ’60s diva.

Expect Lott’s official first single, “Nasty” (penned by Claude Kelly and Cee Lo, woot!) to drop soon; in the interim, watch the video for “Heart Cry” up top.
