Shakira And Usher Returning As Coaches For Season 6 Of ‘The Voice’ In February

Okay, we’re starting to get the picture here — Christina Aguilera and Cee Lo Green can only take so much of either The Voice‘s grueling schedule or the TV overexposure or the combined arrogance of Adam Levine and Blake Shelton, so they now just rotate in their backup coaches every other season in order to take a break. Yes, series fill-ins Usher and Shakira will reportedly return for the singing competition’s sixth season, after initially making their Voice debut during Season 4 last spring.

A new twist that should cheer up those of you lamenting the fact that Season 5 just ended this week: The Voice will be back on the air in two months. Season 6 is set for a two-hour premiere on February 24. No time for separation anxiety here.

The Voice wrapped its fifth season on Tuesday (December 17) night, when Tessanne Chin was declared the winner and Lady Gaga joined Xtina on stage for a rousing collaboration/feud-squashing moment with “Do What U Want.” Chin’s winner’s single “Tumbling Down,” which was written by Ryan Tedder, is currently #26 on iTunes.

Interestingly, neither Christina, Cee Lo, Shakira or Usher have seen one of their team members win the show in its first five seasons. Maybe it really is Adam and Blake’s big heads that keep the others all splitting shifts?
