Drake Remixes Soulja Boy’s “We Made It”: Listen

How does Drake create a New Year’s anthem? Mostly by refusing to change. In a remix of Soulja Boy‘s “We Made It,” he tweaks the cycling-class flow snatched from Migos‘ “Versace” to add a remorseful note here, cue a moment of silence there — for his non-competition, obviously — and reels through a list of accomplishments that includes paying off his lawyer’s fees.

“My resolution for New Year’s is n—-, we made it,” Drake crows, as he reduces Soulja Boy to a yes man on his own track.

Drake’s “We Made It” remix is just one of several “New Year’s Eve Anthems” to be released over the next few days, including the Hit-Boy-produced “Trophies.” Clearly, the Nothing Was the Same rapper isn’t cutting tracks about resolving to lose weight, volunteer to help others or save money. Instead, he’s recording drinking-out-of-your-Grammy music, Kanye-West-is-my-only-competition music, as many sequels to “Worst Behavior” as he can stand. Hear it after the jump.
