HBO’s great (but polarizing) series Girls has, in two seasons, become one of the medium’s best at integrating music with its stories and visuals.  Some of the show’s most memorable scenes have featured songs by everyone from Duncan Sheik to Robyn, and it has premiered new tracks from fun. and Santigold. Not to mention, the series helped turn Icona Pop‘s “I Love It” into a national phenomenon when the not-yet-hit soundtracked a drug-fueled rave scene last January. And Girls‘ music pull is only getting stronger, as season three will debut new material from Miguel, Lily Allen, Beck and more.

Ahead of the season three premiere on January 12, the show’s music supervisor Manish Raval chatted with Radio.com and discussed what fans can expect to hear this time around. “We had Miguel write us a new song. We have a new one by Jenny Lewis. We have a brand new Lily Allen track. A brand new Christina Perri track,” Raval said. “We were able to get our hands on a brand new Beck song, which he just finished for his new record and gave to us to put on the show before the release of his album.”

He continued: “We were in a fortunate position where we were able to get access to a lot of great songwriters and bands to give us new material or write us new material for the show. A lot of that stuff will appear on the soundtrack, which we’re working on right now.”
