The ‘Frozen’ Soundtrack Blocks Beyonce’s Return To Number One

Industry projections saw Beyonce‘s self-titled fifth album returning to number one on the Billboard 200 for a fourth non-consecutive week after being toppled by Disney’s Frozen soundtrack but they appear to have miscalculated. After a bumper weekend, the soundtrack is predicted to cling to the top spot by a tiny margin.

According to sales predictions, Beyonce sold between 78,000 and 81,000 copies, while Frozen shifted between 83,000 to 86,000 copies. Both albums have proved hugely popular with music fans over the winter with Bey’s innovative visual LP selling 1.43 million since December 13. The soundtrack, by comparison, has racked up a sales total of 503,000 copies.
