Bruce Springsteen Is A Kanye Fan: “West Is Incredible”

Kanye West has another old, white rocker dude in his corner. After the release of Yeezus, the late Lou Reed famously raved about the album, saying “No one’s near doing what he’s doing, it’s not even on the same planet.” And now the Boss himself, Bruce Springsteen, has praised West in a recent interview with NPR. When asked whether he listens to hip-hop, Springsteen cited 2Pac, Biggie, Public Enemy and West as his favorites, singling out Kanye.

“Kanye West is incredible,” he said. “I saw him on television, he did the song called ‘Blood On The Leaves’… it was fantastic, you know. He’s a very, I still find him very interesting.”

And he’s not all talk: Springsteen’s last album, Wrecking Ball, had a track with a rap verse. Sure, it was horribly out-of-place and awkward, but hey, his heart was in the right place. For his latest effort, High Hopes, he even did some sampling and looping, which is what spurred the interview’s hip-hop discussion. Maybe he can link up with Ye and get some pointers for the next LP.
