Adele & Phil Collins Are Writing Songs Together

Phil Collins revealed to Inside South Florida that he has started writing new music with Adele. “She contacted me to write together,” he said. “I wasn’t actually too aware [of her]; I live in a cave. But she’s achieved an incredible amount, and I really love her voice, and I love some of the stuff that she’s done.”

Collins didn’t specify whether these new songs are for Adele’s third album (aka the follow-up to 2011’s juggernaut 21). Host Dave Aizer had quite a bit to cover, from Collins’ charity Little Dreams Foundation to the Miami Heat’s use of Genesis‘ “In the Air Tonight” and his primary sources for new music — his children. Because Aizer asked, Collins did admit that he isn’t familiar with twerking but is familiar with Miley Cyrus. (See the chat after the jump.)

In 2011, shortly after she headlined London’s Royal Albert Hall, Adele sat with TODAY and listed a few people who wanted to collaborate with her: Roger Daltrey, Elton John and Steven Tyler. Since then, fans have dutifully compiled other tidbits regarding a new album, including an ASCAP listing for a previously unheard song, “Devil on My Shoulder,” and an interview with songwriter Diane Warren (Justin Bieber, Beyonce, Celine Dion).
