Back in October 2012 (!), Macklemore & Ryan Lewis made their television debut with a performance of “Same Love” on Ellen. Following their big night at the Grammys on Sunday (January 26), the guys returned to the show to talk about how their Grammy Awards performance of “Same Love” with Madonna, Queen Latifah and 33 couples came about. Lewis explained to the host that during their tour, they let a few proposals occur on stage, and Grammys producer Ken Ehrlich thought it would be great to do something similar during the telecast. So he worked out the logistics of having 33 couples get married on stage (Lewis’ sister was among the newlyweds) and enlisting some help from Madge.

Watch it up top, then head below to hear about Macklemore’s love life (he’s engaged and his fiancee serves as their video producer and tour manager) and to see the Seattle Seahawks swag Ellen gave them for the Super Bowl.
