“Drunk In Love” Becomes Beyonce’s 15th Top 10 Hit On The Billboard Hot 100

The only question mark that still hovered over Beyonce‘s innovative visual album was whether it would produce any real hits given that all singles and videos were essentially already in fans’ hands — making the usual promo route of teasing a song, releasing a lyric video (etc) redundant. That concern was erased today (February 5) with news that Jay Z-assisted sex jam “Drunk In Love” has climbed to number two on the Billboard Hot 100.

Four years have passed since Queen Bey last graced the top 10 with Lady Gaga duet “Telephone”. The diva’s 4 album came and went without producing any massive hits, which was unusual for someone of her standing. As it turns out, “Drunk In Love” becomes the 32-year-old’s 15th top 10 hit on the Billboard Hot 100 — the 7th highest tally for a female artist alongside legends Connie Francis and Olivia Newton-John. Female artists with the most top 10 hits:

Madonna — 38
Mariah Carey, Janet Jackson — 27
Rihanna — 25
Whitney Houston — 23
Aretha Franklin — 17
Beyonce, Connie Francis and Olivia Newton-John — 15
Pink, Donna Summer, Taylor Swift — 14
