Lorde Covers James Blake’s “Retrograde” (Brilliantly) For Triple J’s ‘Like A Version’: Watch

Lorde is currently in Australia to make the most of the summer music festival circuit but took some time out of her schedule to drop by alternative radio station Triple J. They played a large role in breaking her Love Club EP outside of New Zealand and she returned the favor by performing a cover of James Blake‘s “Retrograde” for their Like A Version segment (think the antipodean equivalent of BBC’s Live Lounge).

It kind of goes without saying at this point that the 17-year-old interpreted the haunting track brilliantly. Lorde makes “Retrograde” even more ethereal and spooky — delivering a soaring vocal and frenetic hand choreography. Those trademark crab claws were working over time! She also spoke briefly about her new album, saying she would document her crazy post-fame life. Watch up top.
