Whatcha Say: Miley Cyrus, Bruno Mars and Lady Gaga Got Our Readers Talking

Bradley Stern | February 7, 2014 5:30 pm

Well, we’ve made it through another week in pop world! The week kicked off — quite literally — with a powerhouse performance from Mr. Bruno Mars during the halftime show at the Super Bowl on Sunday. Did you miss it? Probably not, since it was the most viewed halftime show….ever.

And of course, as with every week, we were given another nude Miley photoshoot, this time courtesy of Vogue Germany…much to the delight (and outrage) of many.

Plus, we were treated to new releases from the likes of Iggy Azalea and Charli XCX, a promising up-and-comer named Allie X and Kelis, as well as Queen Kylie’s “Into The Blue” music video. As always, you guys had plenty to say. Check out the week’s best comments below!

:: Tammie swooned for Bruno on Bruno Mars’ Super Bowl Halftime Show: Review Revue: “Loved Bruno and his boys! The drum solo was cool, his vocals were crisp, the dance moves were awesome and there was so much energy! Could have done without RHCP’s, but I guess it added diversity. If teenagers were watching, parents would not have been that embarrassed. So tired of Beyonce’ with her raunchy hootchie mama shows wearing only a t-back and undergarments.”

:: And Hudson Valley Chronic was certainly feeling it, too: “Talk about seizing the moment and shaking the crap out of it. The kid and his band aced what would have to be live entertainment’s biggest test, despite their killer performance being nearly obliterated by stupid pyrotechnics and inappropriate Illuminati messaging. The inclusion of the Chili Peppers, looking as if they were just dumped out of a beaker of formaldehyde, only served to make Bruno and co. look and sound even better.”

:: Hanna879 was taken aback by Miley’s spread for Vogue Germany on Miley Cyrus Is Completely Topless Again: See Her NSFW ‘Vogue Germany’ Pics: “It’s kind of disturbing to see Miley like this. Is this what she wants to do with her career now?”

:: Danny was mildly more supportive: “I think she looks good. But she kind of comes off like she wants to be naked rather than sing.”

:: James had some great thoughts about Kylie’s career today on Kylie Minogue Goes “Into The Blue” With French Actor Clement Sibony: Watch The Video: “Can’t compare this to past musical and visual triumphs of “Spinning Around” or “Can’t Get You Out of My Head,” but the video is proof that Kylie is doing something right. Not desperate, appropriate for someone of her age, and full of classy, iconic and fashionable imagery, I would have to say that this is a winner. Many of her contemporaries, including the older pop queens, should take a hint instead of running around in costumes more suitable on 20 year-olds or making sad attempts at contreversy and shock value.”

:: Calin was not having Gaga‘s ego on Lady Gaga Covers ‘Harper’s Bazaar’, Discusses Late-2013 Depression: ““I should be around people who cherish my talents” thats her problem right there. One issue that is going in the trash!!!!!”

:: But Trevor was quick to defend Mother Monster’s mood: “Every single artist that is as famous as her is allowed to talk about their talents. Hell, look at any of Beyonce’s interviews. She basically talks about how sometimes it feels unfair that God gave HER this “gift” and nobody else. Besides, the rest of the article was about how people were trying to sell her and only cared about making money off her. It makes sense that she would want to work with people who appreciated her a singer not just as a way to make money. Next time maybe read the whole thing and think about it.”

:: Greg realized he’s a Swiftie on Taylor Swift Covers The 75th Anniversary Issue Of ‘Glamour’ Magazine: “As much as I love to hate Taylor Swift, I have to admit, I love her. Here’s a beautiful girl that can make her millions with relatable tunes, and very little skin. She dates, in a serial matter (Let’s be honest), but she draws on her experiences both bad and good, and gives a little bit of, let’s say, “Magic” in everyday lessons for her young fans. In a world of Miley’s, Katy’s, Ke$ha’s, Rihanna’s, GaGa’s, and even (as much as it pains me to admit it) Britney’s, it’s just nice to see someone that is genuine in her work, and doesn’t apologize for it.”

:: And finally, drew‘s got a great idea for Kelis on Need More Food? Kelis Goes Hard On Angry New Track “Rumble”: Listen: “I love the raw/soul of this one, but I can’t help but also love the “Flesh Tone”/EDM Kelis as well. Can we have two volumes of Food please? Maybe “Food” can be the soul and “Drank” can be the party bumpers?”
