News that faux lesbian girl band t.A.T.u. would reunite for the Sochi Winter Olympics in Russia had the internet buzzing last week. Their performance was utterly surreal — as was the fact that Russian athletes marched to their 2003 hit “Not Gonna Get Us” — but seeing Lena and Yulia together again was actually kind of awesome.

The response from fans was so positive that the sapphic sirens (but not really) have decided to stage a comeback. They updated their Facebook this morning (February 11) with a message saying: “You’ve been waiting 6 years and now it’s time! This Friday, 14th February, t.A.T.u. will present their brand new single!” It then goes on to say that the band will perform at a venue in Moscow.

Talk about striking while the iron is hot! t.A.T.u. is riding a huge wave of publicity in the motherland and their new music will, no doubt, be snapped up by local fans. It will be interesting to see a) if they record in English and b) how international fans respond. At their best (“All The Things She Said” and “All About Us”), the duo was a genuinely great pop act.
