Dresses Share A Quirky Love Story In Their Lovely “Painting Roses” Video: Idolator Premiere

Dresses generated a lot of buzz when debut LP Sun Shy dropped in late 2013. The Portland-based duo’s whimsical approach to indie-pop is hard to resist and gems like recent single “Blew My Mind” hinted at a looming commercial breakthrough. Timothy (yes, it’s a girl’s name too!) and Jared could finally take things to the next level with their exceedingly pretty new single “Painting Roses”.

Valentine’s Day comes early with the intimate love song, which sounds like a weird and wonderful mix of Passenger‘s less-is-more approach to everything and Kimbra‘s inherent musical kookiness. It’s a heady combination that is accentuated by Tim Hendrix‘s gorgeous video. Dresses become miniatures, hang out in bird houses, fall through the earth and even transform into creepy Tim Burton-esque clay figures. Watch the sweeping visual up top.
