Austin Mahone Gets Romantic With “U”: Listen To The Teen’s Best Single Yet
Throw that crappy card in the bin. Austin Mahone has a real Valentine’s Day present for you — unexpectedly throwing new single “U” on iTunes this morning (February 14). After a couple of interesting sonic adventures (hip-hop failure “Banga Banga” and not quite there Latin-infused club banger “Mmm Yeah”), the 17-year-old has finally found a sound that suits him.
“U” is a sweet mid-tempo R&B anthem with a bubbly ’90s pop sensibility. Think vintage Justin Timberlake or Justin Bieber before he fell down the rabbit hole. The production is slick but not overwhelming and the lyrics are exceedingly cute. “I love your style, I love your smile, I love your eyes they look like diamonds to me,” Austin croons as girls (and boys) across America swoon.
