Ellie Goulding Previews ‘Divergent’ Soundtrack Cut “Beating Heart”: Listen

Ellie Goulding gave fans the briefest taste of her Divergent soundtrack cut “Beating Heart” today (February 24) when she uploaded a preview to Instagram ahead of its BBC radio 1 radio premiere tonight. As expected, the track is an ethereal dance anthem — the Brit never strays too far from her comfort zone — with an uplifting chorus and icy synths.

“Breaking Heart” wouldn’t sound out of place on Halcyon, or more specifically the re-release with all the upbeat dance-pop tracks, and should resonate with her fans. Divergent director Neil Burger described Ellie “the inner voice of our heroine Tris”, so it will be interesting to see if readers of the popular YA book series (on which the film is based) feel the same way. Listen after the jump.
