M83’s ‘Divergent’ Song “I Need You”: Listen

After hearing Ellie Goulding‘s lovely Divergent cut “Beating Heart,” we now get another lush electronic soundscape from the film courtesy of M83. “I Need You” finds Anthony Gonzalez‘ voice heavily filtered in that Bon Iver style (he’s just the latest to exhibit a Justin Vernon influence) amidst strings and waves of synths. Once the drums and reverbed guitars kick in, though, it sounds like trademark M83, and by the time that warm sax blasts off, you can see the clouds parting and the heroes of Divergent overcoming whatever it is the heroes in Divergent must overcome.

It’s a quick three minutes, making for an impossibly economical and unassuming synth epic. Hear it below.
