Haim, Lily Allen, Arctic Monkeys Win Big At NME Awards, Harry Styles Named Villain Of The Year Again

The NME Awards, that annual snarky rebuttal to the BRIT Awards, were held Wednesday (February 26), but to be honest they weren’t all that different from the BRITs. Mainly because these were also dominated by Arctic Monkeys, who won Best British Band, Best Live Band and Best Album. Idolator faves had a good night as well: Haim won Best International Band, Lily Allen took home Best Solo Artist and Blondie won the Godlike Genius Award, and they were on hand to play a medley of their hits which also included a cover of Beastie Boys‘ “(You Gotta) Fight For Your Right (To Party!).”

One Direction also had some time in the spotlight, though we wouldn’t necessarily call it “winning.” Harry Styles, for the second year in a row, was named Villain Of The Year, and we get the sense this is going to become a running joke a la Jimmy Kimmel apologizing to Matt Damon for running out of time.
