Alexis Jordan Reinvents Herself On “Gone”: Watch The Sexy Video

It’s been a minute since we heard new music from Alexis Jordan. The now 21-year-old released “Acid Rain” as the lead single from her sophomore set in January 2013 but deemed the Sia-penned dance anthem a buzz track when it didn’t take off. More than a year later, she returns with “Gone” — as well as a whole new sound and image.

Alexis turns her back on the dance-pop of global hit “Happiness” in favor of an edgier hip-hop sound. “I’m already gone, ain’t no waiting I had to move on,” she declares over pounding synths and staccato beats courtesy of producer Mel N Muse. It’s a catchy song and the Roc Nation diva pulls it off fairly convincingly.

As for the video? It reminds me of a PG-rated version of Beyonce‘s “Yonce”. There’s no breast-licking or gaggle of supermodels but Alexis does her thing on the streets, rocking a couple of sexy outfits and vamping it up for the camera. She might not have the visual aspect down just yet but this is definitely a step in the right direction. Watch up top.
