Watch Chvrches Cover Lorde’s “Team” For BBC’s Live Lounge
Chvrches stopped by BBC Radio 1’s Live Lounge and performed a cover of Lorde‘s “Team.” Considering the trio’s prolific cover output, and the minimalist electronics of both acts, we’re surprised they haven’t taken on the New Zealand teen sooner. But it was worth the wait, as Lauren Mayberry and co. reworked the stomping anthem into a peppy little dose of synth-pop.
Thanks to Mayberry’s cheery delivery and some plinking “I Wanna Dance With Somebody” percussion, there’s less of a sense of melancholy, and, as with most of their stuff, it sounds like it comes straight from 1987. Check it out up top (the performance begins at 3:45).
