Pharrell’s ‘G I R L’ Settles For #2 Debut Behind Rick Ross, But “Happy” Stays Atop Hot 100

Rick Ross proved just why he’s The Bawse this week by debuting atop the Billboard 200 yet again, this time with his sixth album Mastermind. The hefty MC’s latest set sold 179,000 in its first week, enough to force Pharrell Williams‘ sophomore effort G I R L into a #2 debut, with 112,000 copies moved. Not a bad feat for Pharrell, who hasn’t released an album of his own since 2006. Plus, the writer/producer/singer can rest easy knowing that his Despicable Me 2 soundtrack song “Happy” is nicely perched atop the Hot 100 for a third week.

That flurry of activity at the top of the main album chart causes the Frozen soundtrack to get bumped down to #3, leaving Lea Michele‘s debut solo album Louder (62,000) to enter at #4. Oh, right — and Ashanti‘s BraveHeart pops in at #10.
