Lil Wayne Says ‘Tha Carter V’ Will Be His Last Solo Album

Lil Wayne says he is effectively retiring after Tha Carter V, telling MTV that it will serve as the final installment in his Carter series and will be his final solo album. “I personally plan on this being my final solo album, yeah,” he said. “And it’s definitely the final Carter album… The way I’m working on this album, it seems like it’ll be impossible for me to work this hard again for anything else.”

While he’d still contribute to Young Money projects and other collaborations, there’s one way to motivate Weezy to reconsider. “Twenty-five to 35 million would get me to do another solo album after this,” he said, adding, “I didn’t smile when I said that.”

Keep in mind, this isn’t the first time the 31-year-old has brought up the idea of retirement recently — after suffering from seizures in 2013, he told Katie Couric he hopes to retire by 35 — but this is the first time he’s laid out a specific plan for phasing out solo material and focusing on collaborative works.
