“Heartbreak Dream” sensation Betty Who has been busying herself in Austin by acting as house band for Bravo personality Andy Cohen and Watch What Happens Live during South By Southwest. The most bizarre thing that’s happened to her so far this week? “I was singing ‘Somebody Loves You’ as the musical guest, and Shaq got up and danced with me during it,” she told Idolator.

We also took the opportunity to ask Betty (real name: Jessica Newham) about her upcoming Slow Dancing EP, as well as the songwriters and producers she’s been collaborating with for her forthcoming album.

Newham describes Slow Dancing as a continuation of her breakout debut EP, 2013’s The Movement: “It’s definitely, like, fun songs and one cry-your-eyes-out-in-the-shower song.”

She continued, “For my album, I did a couple sessions with Claude Kelly. She added that she “had the most fun with” Boys Like Girls frontman Martin Johnson.”His song that he did with Avril, ‘Rock N Roll’, is my favorite Avril Lavigne song.”

Other collaborators in the mix for the upcoming Betty Who album include Starsmith (Ellie Goulding, Kylie Minogue) and Scott Hoffman, aka Scissor Sisters member Babydaddy.
