Shakira Conquers ‘Today’ With Great Performances Of “Empire” And “Hips Don’t Lie”: Watch
Shakira ramped up her promo campaign with a stellar performance on Today earlier this morning (March 26). The Colombian goddess literally warmed up the half-frozen crowd with mega-hit “Hips Don’t Lie” before launching into current single “Empire”, which subsequently rocketed up the iTunes download chart to number 11.
Eight years have passed since the diva’s Wyclef Jean-assisted smash ruled the airwaves but it’s still a ridiculously catchy pop song and soon had the crowd dancing while Shakira worked her honest hips on stage. “Empire”, which is turning out to be something of a grower, also sounded great live and allows the 37-year-old to embrace her inner-rock star.
