Ed Sheeran Covers Elton John’s “Candle In The Wind”: Listen To His Faithful Version

Elton John is celebrating the 40th anniversary of Goodbye Yellow Brick Road by releasing a deluxe edition of the classic LP complete with a disc of covers by high-profile artists like Emeli Sande, Fall Out Boy, Miguel and Ed Sheeran. The lovable redhead delivers a faithful interpretation of “Candle In The Wind”.

This was always going to be a match made in (pop) heaven. Elton’s moving ode to Marilyn Monroe is a natural fit for Ed. In many ways, it was an early predecessor of “The A Team” and lends itself to a sparse interpretation on the guitar. The talented 23-year-old does the song justice — showcasing both his versatile voice and the moving lyrics. Listen after the jump.
