O-Town Announce Reunion Via Short Video Clip, Minus Ashley Parker Angel

Kevin Richardson is back with Backstreet Boys. 98 Degrees staged a comeback and, last year, put out a new album after a decade away. And, hell — even *NSYNC reformed for a brief moment, to honor Justin Timberlake at last year’s MTV Video Music Awards. So naturally the next logical order of events in the land of turn-of-the-millennium boy bands was for O-Town to reunite, right?

The gents from the “classic” lineup of the MTV Making The Band-formed pop act — that would be Erik-Michael Estrada, Dan Miller, Trevor Penick and Jacob Underwood — do seem to be back, and announced their upcoming “new music” and a tour via the above video clip. The obvious elephant in the room, however: Ashley Parker Angel is nowhere to be seen, and, according to MTV, won’t be taking part in the reunion.

During their short run, O-Town released their self-titled debut in 2001, which yielded the Top 10 hits “Liquid Dreams” and “All Or Nothing.” Sophomore LP O2 followed a year later, before the quintet split in 2003.

In 2006, Angel released his solo album Soundtrack To Your Life, which contained the Max Martin/Dr. Luke-co-produced hit “Let U Go.” He followed that up with a role in Hairspray on Broadway.

We’re not really sure how necessary this particular “comeback” is, but in the clip at the top, the guys state that they have no label and no manager — so they apparently have no agenda, other than to make some new music. In that case we say, best of luck, guys.

Fans of O-Town can keep up with the guys’ goings-on via their Twitter, which, as you can imagine, has been quite active over the past 24 hours.
