Katy Perry & Kacey Musgraves To Perform Together For ‘CMT Crossroads’

Katy Perry and Kacey Musgraves are teaming up for a special concert as part of the CMT Crossroads series that pairs a country act with someone from another genre. Musgraves joined KP and a host of pop ladies at a charity concert last year and the two have linked up for writing sessions before, so this should go off without a hitch. Plus, she landed a spot as an opener on Katy’s forthcoming Prismatic tour, so this could serve as a preview of some potential surprise live collaborations during the tour.

“From the moment I heard ‘Merry Go Round’ by Kacey Musgraves, I knew we were cut from the same songwriter’s cloth,” Perry told Billboard in a statement. “It’s going to be a BLAST to play on each other’s songs.” Musgraves added in a statement, “In some ways we’re on opposite ends of the spectrum, but in a lot of ways our music makes total sense together. Her songs, while having grit, are so fun and it’ll be a cool challenge to throw a little country on ’em.”

The special tapes in L.A. this month and airs June 13 at 10 p.m. ET on CMT, and because of KP’s star power, it’ll also air later on other Viacom networks like VH1, MTV and Palladia. See the full poster below.
