M.I.A. & Janelle Monae To Perform Two Unreleased Collaborations… As Holograms
I can’t tell if this is the most Janelle Monae story ever, or the most M.I.A. story ever, but regardless, the stars will be performing together live as holograms. According to Stereogum, the two ladies will be performing at simultaneous launch events for the new Audi A3 Thursday (April 3) — Monae in L.A. and M.I.A. in New York — and their respective sets will finish with the bi-coastal duets, with a live hologram of Janelle projected on stage with M.I.A., and a live Maya-gram piped into Monae’s set.
The ladies will perform two previously unreleased collaborations for the spectacle, and we have no idea how it works but it sounds a lot more involved and advanced than the 2Pac hologram (and maybe closer to that time CNN had a will.i.am hologram). What could possibly go wrong!
