MAX’s “Streets Of Gold”: Idolator Premiere

You may recognize Max Schneider from NBC’s Crisis, but the New York City-based actor is simultaneously making a name for himself as a pop singer under the MAX moniker. His song “Mug Shot,” which was featured in the Veronica Mars movie, blended retro soul grit with modern pop’s blaring swagger, and with his latest track “Streets Of Gold” (which we’re excited to premiere), he has again combined two disparate styles into a seamless whole.

This time, the arrangement melds subtle electronic flourishes (those choppy vocal samples bring to mind Ellie Goulding) with acoustic strums and stomping percussion that would fit right in with the current wave of Americana-pop. But the connective tissue that holds it together is MAX’s impassioned vocal turn on the chorus, wherein he straight-up goes for it.

“Streets Of Gold” is off the SAY MAX EP (out next month), and you can stream it below as you peruse the EP’s tracklist.
