MAGIC! Get It Right (Yet Again) On New Single “Don’t Kill The Magic”: Listen

MAGIC! made huge waves internationally with reggae-pop tune “Rude” — it reached the top 10 in Canada, Australia and New Zealand — but reached an even wider audience by teaming up with Shakira on self-titled LP highlight “Cut Me Deep”. The Canadian band is the side-project of Nasri (one half of the production duo The Messengers) but it might become his full-time gig soon if they keep releasing material as good as new single “Don’t Kill The Magic”.

While “Rude” sounded like a male-voiced No Doubt circa Tragic Kingdom, the guys take it even further back on their second single. “Don’t Kill The Magic” sounds like a cross between The Police in the early ’00s and, strangely enough, Robyn‘s brilliant but largely forgotten 2005 album track “Bum Like You”. It’s an incredibly smooth pop song that sounds custom-made for top 40 radio. Listen to the future hit after the jump.
