Kylie Minogue’s “Golden Boy”: Listen To The Record Store Day Song

As is often the case, hindsight is 20/20, and this has several Kylie Minogue fans pondering why scrapped Kiss Me Once track “Golden Boy” — once destined to be a Japanese bonus track — was relegated to a Record Store Day-only release, on single-sided 7″ vinyl. The global holiday for customers to show their support for brick and mortar music retailers came and went this past Saturday (April 19), and a few of those lucky enough to get their hands on the Kylie 7″ (there were only 1000 copies pressed) popped the tune online.

Give bright dance-pop gem “Golden Boy” a listen below, and see if you think it could have replaced any of the tracks that did make the cut for Minogue’s Kiss Me Once LP.

When we spoke to Kylie in February, she explained the difficulty of narrowing down the dozens of songs she recorded for her 12th album to a concise list of 11.

“You just never know where you’re going to get a song from, and then it’s a case of putting them all together,” Minogue told Idolator. “I can’t tell you how many versions of this album have been put into a list. I mean, I’ve made more lists in the last year than I care to think of. And, really down to the very end, there were so many contenders. I felt like no matter which way the song list went, there was going to be some disappointment [over what was cut] on my side and on the side of other writers and producers. But once I realized, okay, there is no happy ending for everyone, in the back of mind was that there are always other releases. The songs will find the right home when it’s the right time.”
