Zedd Has Re-Recorded “Clarity” With Danish Diva Medina (Sorry, Foxes!)

Well, this was a little unexpected. Zedd has recorded a new version of summer smash “Clarity” featuring the typically tortured vocals of Danish dance diva Medina. The Foxes-free edit was uploaded by the DJ’s German record label with a brief message describing the song as his next single. There are a couple of reasons why this makes commercial sense.

For starters, “Clarity” only reached number 96 in Germany (Zedd’s homeland) — so it makes sense to re-release it. Furthermore, Medina has a strong following in Europe and the prospect of the odd couple collaborating will generate a lot of attention. But how does it compare to the original? I love the perennially-depressed club queen (she once released a song called “Execute Me”) but it’s hard not to associate the soaring floorfiller with Foxes. See if you can be more objective after the jump.
