Ellie Goulding‘s Divergent single “Beating Heart” has gotten a dynamic remix from of Australian producer Motez. His reworked version showcases a deft balance of house struts, EDM wubs and ambient emptiness, making it sound more like a DJ mix than a single song.
The chorus starts out sparse, then it’s flooded with chopped vocals and shimmery electronics as the tempo picks up and the whole thing becomes a vogueing dance floor romp… only to slow down and build up all over again. The key is that the transitions and BPM shifts never seem abrupt.
