Frank Ocean To Perform At Met Gala In May

Just about a month before unleashing Yeezus upon the world last June, Kanye West performed at the Met Gala in New York City, where he debuted new album tracks like “On Sight” and “I Am A God” before we even knew what they were officially titled (he also sang that cloying outtake “Awesome,” which we’ll pretend never happened). On May 5, the Costume Institute Gala returns, and we could see a similar unveiling of highly anticipated new music, this time from Frank Ocean.

Page Six reports that Ocean is performing at the ball this year, which could mean he’s ready to test out material from his Channel Orange follow-up, which he’s been finishing up in the studio in recent weeks.

Hopefully if Ocean debuts some new songs Monday, the gala’s attendees will be better prepared than last year and will come away with more than just some grainy Vines of the proceedings. Perhaps we can upgrade to Instavid this time? Throw us a bone, here, glitterati.
