In Britain, they have the outstanding music show Later… with Jools Holland, in which a handful of acts share a stage and alternately perform one or two songs each, with some banter from the host and interviews in between each song. The cool part of that is often watching the artists watch the other performances — for instance, in a recent episode you could see Kanye West checking out Kings Of Leon‘s set, and vice versa.

Well, here in America, we take Britain’s successful TV ideas and make them more awesomer — so while Later is cool and all, why not make all the acts perform simultaneously?! Wouldn’t that be ZANY? That’s the basic premise of VH1’s SoundClash, which will be hosted by Diplo and executive produced by Questlove. According to Billboard, each episode will feature three artists performing at the same time on one stage, doing current hits, covers and live collaborations.

The grand experiment kicks off July 23 with Lil Wayne, Fall Out Boy and London GrammarEd Sheeran, Sia and Grouplove will appear on the second episode, with more to be announced.
