M.I.A. Brings “Double Bubble Trouble” To ‘Late Night With Seth Meyers’: Watch
M.I.A. stopped by Late Night with Seth Meyers on May 12 to perform “Double Bubble Trouble,” off 2013’s Matangi.
Like the song itself, with its electric backbeats and schoolyard-ready hook (“Uh oh, you’re in trouble / I step up in the game and I burst that bubble”), her stage set-up was playful but ominous. “1984 IS NOW,” a backdrop reads, being more direct than even Kanye West‘s SNL projections. Accomplices, while wearing gold burqas, seated in office chairs and armed with neon toy rifles, stare straight ahead. As the ex-Roc Nation signee crows in her biggest hit, “No one in the corner has swagger like us.”
