Beyonce, Jay Z & Drake Lead 2014 BET Awards Nominations: See The Full List

Beyonce, Jay Z and Drake lead the nominations for the 2014 BET Awards, to the surprise of no one.

All three artists earned five nods each. Drake faces off against Jay Z, J. Cole, Future and last year’s winner, Kendrick Lamar, for Male Hip Hop Artist. That category aside, Hov only scored big for his collaborations, Beyonce’s “Drunk In Love” and “Holy Grail” featuring Justin Timberlake. (His touring schedule in recent years seemed to predict this.) Meanwhile, Beyonce is up for Video of the Year twice with “Drunk in Love” and “Partition,”  a hefty contender in that same category being Pharrell‘s “Happy.”

Not all of the nominees are no-brainers, though: Last year’s Female R&B/Pop Artist, Rihanna, is nominated this year too, though she faces off against Janelle Monae and Jhene Aiko. After having released his solid debut Testimony, newcomer R&B singer August Alsina ties Pharrell with four nods, including Best New Artist with Ariana GrandeDaft Punk is nominated for Best Group. And the most interesting list of nominees could be for Best Female Hip Hop Artist: Nicki MinajEve, Iggy Azalea, Angel Haze and Charli Baltimore.
