Alli Simpson Returns With Another Great Synth-Pop Single: Listen To “Guilty”

After getting off to a rocky start with kooky club-banger “Why I’m Single”, Alli Simpson‘s budding music career really hit its stride with 2013’s bubbly synth-pop delight “Notice Me”. The sugary sweet earworm was a considerably better fit for the 16-year-old’s pretty voice and endearing girl-next-door image. Happily, new single “Guilty” picks up where that underrated gem left off.

Produced by CJ Baran and Ben Romans, the soft and pretty synth-ballad has a distinct ’80s twist — extra points for the unexpected sax! — and a deceptively catchy chorus. “Guilty” reminds me of Olivia Newton-John circa Xanadu with a splash of Owl City‘s exceedingly polite electronica thrown in for good measure. Oh, and there’s even a random dub-step breakdown in there to shake things up. Take a listen after the jump.
