Angus & Julia Stone Return With Blues-Pop Gem “Heart Beats Slow”: Listen
Australian brother-sister duo Angus & Julia Stone broke internationally with 2010 sophomore set Down The Way and then promptly decided to go on hiatus. Over the next four years, both siblings released critically-acclaimed solo LPs but they finally reunite on smoldering blues-pop gem “Heart Beats Slow” — the first taste of their self-titled third album.
The blues-infused acoustic anthem is vintage Angus & Julia Stone, a slow but insistent groove that puts the emphasis on mood and musicianship over radio-friendly hooks and a corny chorus. “Heart Beats Slow” takes a couple of listens to seep under your skin but then you’re stuck with the lush, shoe-gazing single for good.
