With the release of New Zealand songstress Kimbra’s latest synthy jam “90s Music,” naturally, we’ve all been anxiously waiting for the song’s video to finally come out. Well, here it is, and Kimbra does not disappoint.

A kaleidoscope of different images seemingly thrown randomly together, the video takes us on a trippy journey through Kimbra’s idealist and dreamy perception of the 90s’. From Kimbra dancing in front of a white-picket fence with Minnie Mouse-styled hair to her lounging on a green Fiat in a purple fur coat amongst the clouds, this slightly bizarre, yet endearing, video is an attention-grabber that fits perfectly with the new song.

“’90s Music’ embraces so many things I like to explore musically,” said Kimbra when speaking about the new tune. “I am always attracted to the meeting place of light and dark, sweet and sour – the juxtaposition of angular sounds and head-crushing distorted elements sitting alongside a breathy bubblegum vocal. Instead of making the track a throwback musically, I wanted it to feel like a nod to the past from a futurist perspective.”

Well, it seems that Kimbra’s ambitions were definitely met with this one. Watch the video, and get ready to have your mind blown.
