Giorgio Moroder, electronic great, has debuted an ambitious new song with a simple title: “Giorgio’s Theme.”

It’s the first track revealed from Adult Swim’s fifth Singles Program. And following remixes of songs ranging from Coldplay‘s “Midnight” to HAIM‘s “Forever,” plus that actually believable rumor that he was working on Lana Del Rey‘s Ultraviolence, “Giorgio’s Theme” adds to how Moroder became 2013’s most talked-about producer at age 73 – with the same open mind and excitement toward music’s every possibility of a 20-year-old.

“First of all, it’s not EDM,” Moroder says. “It may have some arpeggios and nice chords. It’s not going to have any EDM-typical sound, and it’s probably going to be about six, seven minutes.” Those arpeggios? Grimy. And those chords? Pounding. Throughout the seven-minute stretch, “Giorgio’s Theme” wrestles and glides and rushes with all those and more; above all else, it’s a superhero theme. Hear it after the jump.
