Ariana Grande Dresses Up As Barbarella: Is A New Video On The Way?

Ariana Grande posed as a mod squad babe for “Problem.” Earlier this week, though, she cast aside that color-paneled dress and thigh-high boots for a bronze-plated bustier and toy space gun, channeling Jane Fonda as ’60s sex icon Barbarella. “yes that’s a hint,” she said on Twitter, in between Instagram snapshots of herself, the film itself, and others inspired by the French-Italian cult classic, like a 1966 Smirnoff ad.

Following its record-breaking chart debut, “Problem” continues to climb Billboard’s Hot 100. (Currently, it trails behind John Legend‘s “All of Me,” Iggy Azalea‘s “Fancy” and Justin Timberlake‘s “Not a Bad Thing.”) But the Song of the Summer contender also remains the only single that Grande’s revealed so far from her follow-up to 2013’s Yours Truly. The photos strongly hint of a new single, if not new video ahead.

It could even amount to another collaboration with Azalea herself. As some fans already have noticed, the New Classic femcee has also been posting photos of ’60s and ’70s flicks, albeit more obscure ones. (The Vixens of Kung Fu is a kung fu-inspired erotic film – the more you know!) See Grande and Azalea’s Barbarella-inspired posts below.
