Bonnie Anderson’s “Blackout” Rips Off Katy Perry’s “Dark Horse” In An Amazing Kind Of Way: Watch

Bonnie Anderson released her debut single “Raise The Bar” in late 2013 — six years after winning Australia’s Got Talent as a big-lunged 12-year-old. The catchy dance-pop anthem turned out to be a minor hit at home but she’s hoping to attract a much larger audience the second time around, even if it means ripping off Katy Perry.

The 19-year-old’s new single “Blackout” sounds like “Dark Horse” Part 2. The rubbery synths are familiar, as is the trap breakdown that follows the soaring chorus. Bonnie even looks like Katy in the bizarre video. But here’s the really annoying thing. It’s actually pretty catchy (and charting well in Australia) and supports the argument that the newcomer could be a good pop star with the right material. Watch up top.

Is “Blackout” a copy or are the similarities just a coincidence? Have your say in the comments below.
