Charli XCX really wants you to take notice of Ryn Weaver‘s debut single “OctaHate.” Yesterday the “Boom Clap” diva urged her Twitter followers to “listen 2 this now” while posting the SoundCloud link to Weaver’s new song, and today Charli gave “OctaHate” a second push by tweeting, “if u missed this yesterday go & listen 2 @RynWeaver created by ryn, benny, cashmere, passion pit & me. shes a star.” (Atlantic Records confirmed to Idolator that Charli co-wrote the song.)

The Benny and Cashmere mentioned are none other than Benny Blanco and Cashmere Cat, who both aided Passion Pit‘s Michael Angelakos in producing Ryn’s single. And about that single… “OctaHate” is a totally dreamy finger-snap-and-synth filled cut that defies genre and will either delight or perplex programmers of pop radio. It’s an undeniably memorable outing, as far as debuts go, and we’re choosing to believe it signals that more good stuff is on the way from this new talent.
